30.03.20—20:00    MIRY Ensemble: ADAM quartet MIRY Concertzaal concert

Does the Amsterdam Conservatory also teach the philosophy of Johann Gottlieb Fichte? The Adam Quartet seems well acquainted with his three-part argument. First, the thesis: a string quartet by Sergei Prokofiev imbued with Karbardian folk music heard while fleeing Hitler in the Caucasus. Then the antithesis: Shostakovich’s third quartet, also about World War II. Finally, the synthesis. In his fourth string quartet, Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks uses both folk elements and hard, Shostakovich-like sound textures.
