17.02.20—20:00    MIRY Ensemble: Jacob Kellerman MIRY Concertzaal concert

Guitarist Jacob Kellerman’s selections are diverse, but they all share a free, undogmatic approach to instruments. Arvo Pärt wrote his Fratres for string quartet and percussion, but arranged it for many other instruments. Antonín Dvořák composed a version of his 4 Romantische Stukken for guitar and violin, and we hear theatre music in Lithuanian composer Joseph Achron’s Stempenyusuite. For The Fifth Hand, Henrik Strindberg referred to earlier works. The evening centres on Kellermann’s own arrangement of Schubert’s Duo Sonata, from Vienna’s Biedermeier period, when the guitar was prominent.
